Complete Domination

For immediate release, Homestead Speedway 02-28-2010

Felix Serralles and David Tuaty completely dominated the 4 races that comprised the FARA schedule this past weekend. The BMW racing team of TLM didn't miss a beat. David Tuaty qualified the car on the pole position and then proceeded to coach his young pupil Felix Serralles to the top of the podium. Felix did a fantastic job running down a Honda that had much more straightaway speed but lacked the cornering and braking ability of the TLM BMW Racing 325.

Tuaty Leira Motorsports BMW which proudly represents the Palm Beach Driving Club at PBIR has won all 3 races this weekend at Sebring Raceway.

David Tuaty at the helm of the teams BMW 325 started the 1.5 hour enduro from the second place starting position and had a race long battle with the pole sitting BMW 328 of Irish Mike’s Racing. “It was a lot of fun battling with long time friend Irish Mike; for most of the race there were only a few inches between our bumpers.” Tuaty said.

The two sprint races were a cakewalk as David Tuaty started from the pole position and steadily built a lead that was as much as 15 seconds by the time the checkered flag flew.

This is the seventh consecutive weekend in which the Tuaty Leira Motorsports BMW 325 has tasted victory.

Press Release

Puerto Rico WC-T champ Enrique Gelpi Jr. Joins Tuaty Racing for August Race.

Enrique Gelpí ,Jr., current Puerto Rico World Challenge Touring champion, has reached an agreement with Tuaty Racing Team to participate in the August race of the prestigious FARA Series to be held at Homestead Miami Speedway, in Florida.  The ‘Boricua’ pilot, who has four national championships in his career and had an excellent demonstration in the 2007 Koni Challenge race at Daytona, will be driving a BMW alongside the experienced and fast driver, David Tuaty. Actually, Tuaty and his team are in first place in the very competitive Modified Production 3 class, staying unbeaten so far this year. Tuaty has raced and achieved victories with prestigious teams such as SpeedSource, Fountain Motorsports and TC Kline Racing.

"It will be a difficult test for me... new car, new track and the pressure that we are in the most competitive team in the class” says Gelpí, Jr.  "David is one of the fastest drivers of this series…my goal is to try to be near his lap times, take care of the equipment and defend his point lead in the championship".  According to Gelpí, Jr.: "Our Pro-Parents Racing Team is ready to get to Florida and continue to show the quality of teams and drivers we have in our small Island".

2 wins in a row for Tuaty Racing's Scott Schlesinger and David Tuaty

Sunday morning started with Scott rocketing off from the pole position and steadily building a huge lead by the time he came in for the mandatory pit-stop. David Tuaty took over the controls of the Tuaty Racing BMW and cruised home to an easy victory.
Sunday afternoons race was a different story as a couple of Corvettes and a Porsche 911 joined in the fun. Scott again started in the front row but this time on the outside of the Corvette. At the start of the race, with a daring move on the outside of turn one Scott snicked the BMW by the Corvette and stayed upfront for the next 20 minutes of the race until traffic allowed the Corvette to pass and build a small 5 second lead. Scott was told to stay put in second place and wait until the driver change to give David Tuaty a chance to chase the big bad Corvette down. The pit-stop came with about 20 minutes left in the 1 hour long enduro and David proceeded to turn the fastest laps of the race one after the other and by the time the Corvette had finished their stop David was able to overtake and build an insurmountable lead to take the checkered flag by a huge amount. 2 poles, 2 fastest laps and 2 wins. Total domination for the Tuaty Racing BMW of Scott Schlesinger and David Tuaty.

Two in a row for David Tuaty and David Leira

It was hot and it was humid at Homestead Miami-Dade Speedway, but the rain stayed away. The weekend started with the pole position for David Tuaty in the Tuaty Racing BMW 325 with an impressive lap of 1:42.3 around the club course, while second place starter Buzz Marcus had a lap of 1:42.6. The two 30 minute qualifying races netted two solid second place finishes, but most important of all was finishing ahead of their closest competitor for the championship in both races. Heading into the hour and half long enduro the duo of Tuaty and Leira had a 3 point lead in the championship over Ricky Diaz driving his Mazda RX-8. "David Leira drove a very good opening stint in the BMW that he prepares for us and when the yellows flew for the first time we made a dash for pit lane" Tuaty said. "I just drove my behind off for an hour and 10 minutes, I was totally exhausted after the race" Tuaty added. Second place in the enduro went to Juan Paulino in his extremely fast Honda and third place was the RX-8 of Diaz. Tuaty and Leira head over to the August event with a 5 point lead in the championship.

Tuaty and Leira win Homestead MP-3 race at Homestead Miami-Dade Speedway

David Tuaty and David Leira have taken over the championship lead in the FARA Endurance Series with their commanding victory in this Sunday’s race at Homestead Miami-Dade Speedway.

“Leira did an incredible job. He only had the race laps to get comfortable with the car after having no practice and brought it into the pits in the top five.” Tuaty said.

David Tuaty took over the controls at the 30 minute mark after David Leira pitted for fuel during the one and only full course yellow of the event. Tuaty then drove the last hour of the event and when all other cars made their mandatory pit stops; the David’s were a full lap ahead of the chasing Mazda RX-8 of Ricky Diaz.

“David (Leira) and I pretty much rebuild this car form the ground up after finishing second in the inaugural race of the 2009 season and I am ecstatic that all the long nights paid off.” Tuaty added.

I will like to thank the crew that worked long hours to get the car ready: Christian, Clunker, and Alex. Great pit calls by Papi. Special thanks to Power Fundraiser, TC Kline, RC Engineering, and Total Lubricants.

David Tuaty, long time Grand American Road Racer and SCCA Member has joined FARA. (Formula and Automobile Racing Association). For the 2009 season David Tuaty will be racing a highly modified BMW 3 series in the MP3 class of FARA. "I am very excited to be racing with this new group of guys here in South Florida, I love the atmosphere, the party people come out and support the races through the weekend, it is really a lot of fun." Tuaty said. "FARA is a new organization but it is being led by a veteran group of racers that really have a good understanding of what is needed right now. FARA only has 4 classes for closed wheel cars, they are grouped together based on engine size. Everything else is open to the rules. This effectively eliminates all questions of legality out the window." David Tuaty is partnering up with Leira's Automotive, David Leira for the 2009 championship " David Leira and I have been  long time rivals for over a decade competing for wins in the SCCA ITB ranks so it is with great enthusiasm that we have become teammates.

Performance Motorsports Signs David Tuaty and Jason Potter to Drive

Performance Motorsports has confirmed David Tuaty and Jason Potter as the pilots for their new BMW Z4 in pursuit of the 2006 Grand-Am Cup championship.

A successful and experienced driver line-up will be spearheading the BMW Z4 assault on the title.
Driver David Tuaty, who will team with Jason Potter, who finished nineth in last years championship are excited about being able to build on last years success.

Performance Motorsports, a Florida based team, has purchased the BMW Z4s which were prepared and campaigned by TC Kline racing during the 2005 Grand-Am Cup championship. These competition prepared cars helped BMW secure second place in the manufacturer point standings last year and will figure prominently in BMW?s hunt for the Sport Touring crown in 2006.

David Tuaty 34, of Miami will be contesting his fifth Grand-Am Cup championship in 2006. Tuaty and co driver Jason Potter are looking forward to a climb up the championship rankings coming off of a consistent but ultimately frustrating 2005 season. "We were looking for a better finish in the standings but a few mistakes held us back" Tuaty went on to add "this one of the most competitive series on the planet so you can?t afford many slip ups if you expect to win."

The season kicks off with the 24 Hours at Daytona, January 26-29 at Daytona International Speedway where Tuaty looks to start the season off strong. ?We opened last season really strong, the car was great and we put in good drives so I am looking to repeat that performance this year.

Tuaty finished by saying "I think we have the car, team and driver line up to win the Sport Touring championship, keep an eye on our Z4 in 2006."
